Riding Stand-Up Jet Skis to Tallinn: A Thrilling Adventure Across the Open Seas

Looking for an adrenaline-packed adventure? How about jet skiing to Tallinn?

Pekka Kari, Tommi Mattila, and Joni Lehtonen, hailing from Kerava and Vantaa, dared to answer a unique question: what would it be like to ride stand-up jet skis all the way to Tallinn? Armed with determination and a thirst for adventure, these intrepid souls embarked on a thrilling journey across the open seas.

The stand-up model they chose is known for its instability compared to the seated version, adding an extra layer of challenge to their quest. Despite facing rough waters and unpredictable conditions, the trio pushed forward, fueled by their passion for the open ocean.

Before setting out, each had varying levels of experience with stand-up jet skis. Mattila, the most seasoned among them, had been riding since 1994 and even competed in several races. Kari and Lehtonen, inspired by their friend’s enthusiasm, eagerly joined the expedition, ready to test their skills on the waves.

Their journey began in late July from Kari’s cottage in Sipoo, with a daunting 115 kilometers of open water ahead of them. Accompanied by a safety boat loaded with supplies, including food, drinks, and fuel, they set off into the unknown.

As they braved the elements, facing strong winds and towering waves, their resilience was put to the test. Yet, with each passing kilometer, they pressed on, determined to reach their destination. Along the way, they encountered challenges and setbacks, including mechanical issues and rough seas, but their spirit remained unbroken.

After five hours of adrenaline-fueled adventure, they finally reached the marina in Tallinn, their weary bodies aching but their spirits soaring. Reflecting on their journey, they acknowledged the difficulties they faced but expressed pride in their accomplishment.

Despite the hardships, their journey was not without its moments of beauty and camaraderie. From the breathtaking views of the open sea to the bonds forged through shared adversity, their adventure was a testament to the power of friendship and the thrill of exploration.

As they unloaded their jet skis and prepared to return home, their minds were already racing with plans for their next great escapade. For these three fearless friends, the call of the open water will always beckon, promising new adventures and unforgettable experiences on the horizon.
